Localization (About SDGs)
A concept that is important for the accomplishment of SDGs is localization and its meaning. This term refers to a process where the goals are adapted, implemented, and monitored at the local level. As stated by the UN, the governments will decide how the targets of goals are going to be included in the process of planning policies and strategies. The cities can be agents of change that better execute the SDGs because they are ‘closer’ to the issues, and monitoring progress requires reliable data, which is not always collected easily by the national governments. Implementation in a local level must be guided by inclusive participation, recognition of local agenda, planning, and monitoring and evaluation. Above all, Localization can be a more objective way to address the challenges towards the completion of SDGs.
